An Update on Puppy Raising Partnership Program

I mentioned in an earlier post that my daughter was accepted into a special program to train service dogs for disabled members of our community. You can read more about it here: The Foundation For Service Dog Support.
I am in awe of this organization and what they are accomplishing! If you, or someone you know, are interested in helping with this program, please follow the link above!

Brittney received her puppy, Sam, on Jan. 7th, 2009. She is committed to his training for the next 18 months. Here they are making their official debut! How cool is this???

More ASK Frames!

Over the holidays, I was hired to make more of my ASK frames! My customers chose from current Designer Series Papers, (DSP), and colors, and I did the rest!

I love doing these!

Years ago, when I was working for another company, helping women decorate their homes, I would suggest using framed art like this in the bathroom. There you have someone's attention. They will read whatever is placed in front of them! And what's better to read than something uplifting and full of promise!!!

A- Ask and it shall be given to you
S- Seek and you shall find
K- Knock and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9

If you have a gift need, or would like one for yourself, contact me! I'd love to custom make one just for you!!!

Bear-ly a Manly Valentine's Card

On the latenightstampersconvention2008-2009 yahoo group, we were challenged to create a "manly" valentine's card. Well, those of you who know me, know I have a warped sense of humor. I could really have a lot of fun with this challenge between the "worm" from Bugs and Kisses or the "little stinker" (skunk) from Pun Fun! I also thought about that little "toad" in A Flower From All Seasons and those "smelly old fish" from On the Fly!

I know, I have some serious issues!!! I admit it!

So, I am playing it safe, and chose that great big hairy, okay, and cuddly bear from Under the Stars!

I know there are others out there that can relate! Right???

Recipe
Stamps: Under the Stars, Sprinkles, Many Happy Returns, and Party Hearty
Ink: Black Stazon and Riding Hood Red
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana, Choc. Chip and Candy Lane DSP
Embellishments: Linen Thread, Apricot Appeal Grosgrain ribbon, Alpine Brown Felt Ribbon, Hodgepodge hardware and Real Red Brads.

Letter on the hearts were first stamped a couple times from the "celebrate you" circle from Party Hearty. Then I punched out the letters with the new Heart to Heart Punch, using the smallest heart.
The bear was also stamped twice, once on the brown DSP and once on the yellow DSP. I cut both out and used the belly and mouth from the yellow paper to put onto the brown bear. The small hearts were glued to the linen thread with glue dots.
I masked one of the stamps from Many Happy Returns to stamp my sentiment!

Wha-la! There you have it! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me!!!

Stamps: Season of Friendship (again)
Ink: Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip
Paper: Choc. Chip, Red Ridinghood Red, Very Vanilla and DSP from the Love You Much Bundle
Hearts with my new heart punch!

Stay tuned for the inside!

Fun Christmas Tiles!

These coaster tiles were so much fun making, and even more fun giving away as gifts! Everyone loved them!

I did a lot of research before starting! I chose a light colored tile at a local home improvement store. I did not pick the tumbled tiles as many others have used, due to the uneven edges. You do want to note that due to the uneven surface, some of your images won't stamp completely. I love this stamp set and couldn't wait to use it!

Directions:

1. Be sure to wipe each tile first, removing any dust on them. Make sure they are dry before stamping
2. Use a permanent ink like Stazon! Carefully ink your stamp and stamp your image. Also have on hand Stazon cleaner. It works great on mistakes if you dab some on a piece of paper towel and wipe your mistake carefully.
3. I placed my tiles on cookie sheets. When a cookie sheet was filled, I place them in my preheated oven at 225 degrees for 15 minutes to dry the ink.
4. I used colored chalks with q-tips. The tiles seem to "grab" the color. You do not have to be precise! You can also use your blender pen and stamp pad ink in the lid to color in the image. I just preferred a softer look of color with the chalks.
5. Lightly spray an acrylic sealant over the tiles, key word here is "lightly". You want to set the color, but not completely seal the tile, allowing it to absorb moisture from cup/coaster use.
6. I purchased small felt circles with adhesive backing for the bottom of my coasters. This is to protect furniture from scratching.

If you have questions or need more information, please feel free to contact me!

I made 40 tiles in one evening. They were easy to make!

It's a New Year!

2008 closed with lot's of excitement to share!!!

1). I'm going to be a grandma again! Congratulations to Sara and Stephen for their anticipated July baby!!!

2). Dustin proposed to Natasha Christmas Day!!! And she said YES!

3). My old computer crashed but I was able to salvage most all of my information and photos! Does that mean I'm a geek? I purchased a Mac and am having to learn a whole new way of doing things! Thank you for your patience!!!

4). Dustin and Natasha finally closed on a home, very near to ours. They got a really good deal, and have to put in some sweat equity with painting, cleaning and minor repairs.

5). My children all pitched in and purchased a very, very, very nice camera for me, for Christmas! I am very, very, very happy!!!

6). I have finally been able to stamp! So, sit back and enjoy!!!

Edited to add:
7) a. My daughter applied for and was accepted into a brand new puppy training program offered thru our school district by The Foundation for Service Dog Support. She will spend the next 18 months training her puppy to become a service dog for a disabled individual!

b. My son has been accepted as a recipient for one of the puppies too! If you would be interested in reading more about this awesome program click here! There are opportunities to help support this wonderful program as well as having your classroom adopt a dog! The January 2009 newsletter gives details.
