1.5 Million Handmade Butterflies Needed!

The Butterfly Project is an effort to remember the 1,500,000 innocent children who perished during the Holocaust! Would you be interested in helping?
The Holocaust Museum in Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies, each representing the life of a child who did not live to see another butterfly.
You can find more information on their webpage here: The Butterfly Project

I learned about this worthy project while blogging this morning from this site: My Crafty Life
Dan has created templates you can download of two different butterfly designs. He also had a wonderful idea, to share this project with your childs teacher and/or school!

I hope you will find this project worthy of your help! Please help spread the word!

Birthday Tree!

First of all, Happy Birthday Vicki!!! Hope you like your card!

I wanted to create an unusual combination and I think I succeeded! My dear friend celebrates a fall birthday and what better way to celebrate than to bring in a pinata? I've hung him from a lower branch and he is ready to entertain your sweet tooth!

Stamps: Season of Friendship, Family Phrases, and
Cumpleanos (from our Celebrando Creatividad)
Paper: DSP Autumn Vine, Chocolate Chip, and More Mustard.
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Really Rust, and Baja Breeze.
Embellishments: Pewter Brads and Word Window Punch.

Word to the wise! If you ever celebrate with a pinata, don't use a heavy stick or bat and be sure to keep your distance from swinging bats in children's hands!

Mini Vacation to Colorado

It's been a long 2 months. My son has been gone that long, leaving his family in our care! He left to help my father with potato harvest and is due to return this coming week! We are very excited!

Having three little ones around 24/7 has been "exciting"! I feel it's brought us all closer together! The littlest one is now potty trained! Can I hear some "HURRAYS"? And the oldest one lost his first tooth. When I spoke to my son last night, he sounded tired, a tad sad, and perhaps homesick! We will surprise him with a whole lot of hugs and his favorite hot dinner!

A little over a week ago, we decided to go up and visit them. Harvest had just finished and they deserved some relaxation time! So, we loaded up the kids, and drove the 10 hours for a 5 day mini vacation! I thought I'd share a few photos! It's quite different scenery from where we live!

"Bearly" Feeling Better

While we were traveling out of state, I spent a whole day stuck in a motel room, (long story). Thankfully, I brought some stamping supplies with me, and this is what I put together. Remember, I had limited supplies! LOL

Vivian, I surely do hope you are feeling better soon so you can do "smore" stamping and blogging!!!

Stamps: Under The Stars
Paper: Kiwi Kiss CS, Chocolate Chip CS, and Autumn Vine DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip and assorted SU markers
Embellishments: I used my Big Shot and Naturally Serif Alphabet Die. I also layered the bear, and created his arms to hold the smore!

(Sorry the photo is blurry! I used my cell phone to take this photo! LOL

My First SU Christmas Ornament

I have admired the ornaments other stampers have made and shared and wanted to try my hand at it. I found these clear ornaments last winter after the holidays and put them away for such a time as this! These were very easy to make and I hope you will try them!

One clear glass ornament. I found mine at both Target and Michael's.
Stamps: Punches Three, a level one hostess set
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Embellishment: Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, and fake snow.
I used our new Scallop Square Punch. It works perfectly with this stamp set! You will love it!

If you need more instructions, please email me and I'll do my best to explain!

A Country Christmas

I was "playing with my toys" and came up with this easy design! Can you believe I have already received an order to make 25 more? Now that is awesome!

This was very easy to make and I love the country feel!

Stamps: Heard From The Heart
Paper: Whisper White Textured CS and Holiday Treasures DSP
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Embellishments: Riding Hood Red 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and assorted buttons from my Big Shot using the Button Die. I first covered some lightweight cardboard with DSPs using my glue stick. I ran it thru the machine and used linen thread to actually sew them on my card.

I needed a baby card for a dear friend. I love the idea of a baby bib design, so I used our carousel notes for a template! I traced around a portion of the carousel note card and used my 1 3/8 circle punch for the neck.

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Short & Sweet, and Together Forever
Paper: Pink Pirouette and Whisper White
Ink:Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, and Versa Mark
Embellishments: I stamped my phrase with Versa Mark and used white embossing powder, cut it out with the small oval punch, layered with the large oval punch. I sponged the edges of my card and label. The flowers were stamped and cut out. I used dimensionals and added a little glitter to the middle of the flower.
Ribbon: Whisper White Taffeta

A Baja Christmas

This is another easy-peasy card! You will notice that I used my Big Shot! Can you believe that I was afraid to use it at first? I pulled it out of the box and it sat there on my table for a couple of weeks before I got up the nerve to try it out. I have to laugh about it now! It really is easy and fun to use! The possibilities are endless!

Stamps: Heard From The Heart
Paper:Baja Breeze (textured), Whisper White (textured), and Ski Slope DSP
Ink: Baja Breeze and Versa Mark
Embellishments: I used the Scallop Edge Punch on the DSP layer. The snowflake was cut using our Big Shot machine and Snowflakes set dies on Baja Breeze textured card stock. I then used versa mark ink, heat and stick powder, and dazzling diamonds!

Quick Christmas Cards

I have been extremely busy lately with family and work, but I have been stamping when I can. I have lot's of new cards to share with you, but have to find the time to take photos and post them!

I have to share with you that I have taught my small grandchildren that my stamping area and supplies are "Grandma's Toys"! When they come in to look for me they ask me, "Grandmaroni, are you playing with your toys?" Isn't that so cute? I bought special stamps just for them to use, but only on special occassions. It's a special treat to come in and stamp with me!

Here are two of the Christmas cards I made that went together quickly. Basically I used the same supplies with slight variations. Recipe follows.

Stamps: Su Doodle This and Elegant CheerPaper: Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White and Holiday Treasures DSPInk: Versa Mark
Finishing touches: Gold Embossing Powder, Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Antique Brass Brads, Red Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads
I used our new Wide Oval Punch and eye-balled the second layer for the sentiment. Also, I used the ¼” punch for circles behind my brass brads.

We will be leaving early in the morning for our trip to Colorado to visit my father! They just finished up with potato harvest and we are going up to encourage him to take a little R&R with us! We are all so excited, especially the little ones who haven't seen their daddy in over a month now. My son went up to help Grandpa with harvest this year! What a blessing for both of them!

I'll be sure to get more posting done as soon as we get back!

ABC Design Team Challenge #2

This is the card I made for our Late Night Stampers Convention 2008-09 Challenge of the week. We were to use the A, B, C's!
I chose:
A- Always Artichoke for my paper, using our Hostess Level 1 Patterns Pack of DSP,
B- Best Yet stamp set also from our Hostess Level 1 selections
C- Chipboard small heart from on board upper simon
Squares were punched out using our 1 1/4" square punch, using all the different patterns from the pack.
I used versa mark ink and embossed the lettering with white embossing powder.
I glued paper from the pack to the heart, trimmed it out, sanded and inked the edges and added a small piece of matching ribbon.

I decided to "case" a card in the current SU catty on page 30. I love the colors and only changed it slightly by adding ribbon to the side and eliminating the brad and twine!

Sneak Peak for World Card Making Day Projects

I have been busy putting together some fun ideas for "World Card Making Day" coming up next month.

I will be focusing on one of Stampin' Up's Simply Sent Card Kits, which will be 20% off the week of Oct. 4-11th.

This is really a great value, especially if you do not own a lot of stamping products. The kits come with everything you need to create cards.

It's a great way to "get your hands wet" with rubber stamping! Once you try it, you'll be hooked!
